Telling the story of your text will not do! ANSWER THE TASK
P-Select specific parts of text that link to the task
C-Place them in the context of the whole text
Q-Use quotes to show how the writer describes these events
E-Explain how the writer uses language, structure and detail to communicate their ideas to the reader
Example:
Violence soon becomes a way of life for Jimmy, what began as a way to feel good about himself soon becomes his only way of coping with any conflict. “He brought up an old score about a mate of mine…so I took out my knife and ran it down his chest and cut him in a slashing motion” This crime leads Jimmy to be sentenced to life in prison, where at first his violent behaviour only get worse. It is clear that he quickly resorts to violence to deal with even petty arguments. The simple vocabulary and unemotional tone reflect how Jimmy feels no remorse for his actions at this time. The phrase”cut him in a slashing motion” sounds very matter of fact, Jimmy clearly did not see this as the horrific attack it was.
